Our Story

We believe the eyes are the windows to the body. Many things can be seen and diagnosed with a thorough eye exam. Our practice has been providing eye care to the Cedar Rapids, Iowa community since 1984. Dr. Fitzgerald and Associates offers patient examinations, diagnoses and treatments for the management of vision diseases and disorders, vision therapy services, and more.

Our practice believes in investigating and investing in the latest in eye care technology to provide the best state-of-the-art patient care possible.

Dr. DeAnn Fitzgerald, OD, Founder

Ocular Disease, NeuroVision Rehab, Concussion Care, and Family Optometry

Dr. Fitzgerald has been in the eye care profession for over 30 years. A graduate of the College of Optometry in Forest Grove, Oregon, she got into the profession because of her passion for helping people. “The eyes are the windows to the body,” she says. “So many things can be seen and diagnosed with a thorough eye exam.” He has been providing eye care to the Corridor community since she moved to Cedar Rapids in 1984.

Dr. Kathy Hotsenpiller, OD

Specialty Contact Lenses and Family Optometry

Dr. Kathy Hotsenpiller majored in biology and earned her undergraduate degree from Kenyon College in Ohio in 1995. After doing cancer research and coordinating oncology clinical trials for four years, she decided to go to optometry school in Chicago. She graduated from the Illinois College of Optometry in 2003. Dr. Hotsenpiller previously worked in private practice before joining Dr. Fitzgerald in 2013. She enjoys fitting patients who have keratoconus or corneal scarring with specialty contact lenses.

Dr. Eyad Yehyawi, OD

Ocular Disease and Family Optometry

Dr. Eyad H. Yehyawi grew up in southeast Iowa and has been practicing optometry since 2004. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Quincy University in 1999, where he majored in biology and minored in chemistry. He earned his doctorate from The University of Missouri-St. Louis College of Optometry in 2004 and then completed a residency in ocular disease at the St. Louis Veterans Affairs Medical Center. Dr. Yehyawi also completed clinical training programs in St. Louis, Kansas City, Orlando, and Denver.
